Editor's Note: The British Medical Journal (BMJ) recently released a series of 3 articles reporting that Dr. Andrew Wakefield's 1998 study published in The Lancet which linked the MMR vaccine to autism was "an elaborate fraud." Director of the Society of Homeopaths Threatens Libel Action Against Paul Offit "According to a BMJ news report, Richard Barr threatened libel action over a single sentence in the book that claimed that, as a solicitor, he had personally paid Andrew Wakefield money to “carry out a study for the purpose of the MMR litigation”. It should not be left to a Journalist or a legal team, or a panel of GP’s, Psychologist and two council workers. Ethically it is immoral for doctors to ignore the symptoms of these children. She said it is saddening how a flawed 1998 British study caused childhood disease rates to climb as fears of autism made vaccination rates for measles, mumps and rubella fall. Last month that research by Dr. Andrew Wakefield was declared unethical. However, suspicions for all vaccines linger. One reason surrounds the vaccine preservative Thimerosal which contains trace amounts of mercury. Most H1N1 flu vaccines don't contain any mercury. 'The nasal does not have mercury in it.
