"Groups Oppose State's Plan for New Rules on Vaccinations" Minneapolis Star Tribune (www.startribune.com) (07/23/02) P. 7B; Lerner, Maura
Two groups are criticizing Minnesota's recent proposal to require additional shots for children in school or day-care programs. Under the proposals, children in school or day care would have to be vaccinated against chickenpox, and children in day care would also need to get hepatitis and pneumococcal shots. The Minnesota Natural Health Coalition and an anti-vaccine group claim that the new vaccines "have not been adequately tested"; however, national organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics have endorsed the vaccines as both safe and effective.
