"Angola: Over 2.1 Million Children Vaccinated"
Africa News Service (www.allafrica.com) (05/03/03)
As part of the first phase of the Extended Vaccination Program, 2.1 million children in Angola received measles vaccinations in late April, and 3 million children also received vitamin A. The measles shots should help prevent roughly 180,200 deaths and save $4.3 million for the treatment of infected children. The second phase of the program, which will take place in early May, will attempt to vaccinate children who missed out on the shot during the first phase.
