"Experts Plea to Parents as MMR Take-Up Rate Falls"
Scotsman (www.scotsman.com) (03/29/03) P. 17; Macdonell, Hamish
Scottish medical experts are renewing their calls for children to receive the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. New statistics show that MMR uptake in Scotland is 86.6 percent, down 0.7 percent from the previous quarter. Scotland's chief medical officer, Dr. Mac Armstrong, says he hopes that by restoring confidence in the vaccine through better education, MMR uptake will improve substantially over the next few years. "We cannot forget that mumps, measles, and rubella are a threat to all unprotected children," he said.
