- Today, the California House Health Committee had a hearing on AB2109
and heard testimony from a long line of parents with their children,
chiropractors and other health care professionals expressing strong
opposition to the bill that would require doctors or other medical
workers to sign off on a personal belief exemption (religious and
conscientious beliefs). Dr. Bob Sears and Dawn Winkler presented
excellent testimony and it was very moving to see so many California
residents show up to defend their parental rights and freedom to make
health care choices on behalf of their children. The AAP docs turned
out in force in support but we turned out in force in opposition and
the bill that Dr. Pan thought was a slam dunk basically passed out of
Committee by only one vote. A heartfelt thank you and congratulations
to all who stood up for health liberty today in California. This fight
is not over yet! Stay strong and plugged into NVIC's Advocacy Portal so
you will know when to take the next step. Barbara
