Depends...

Anyone looking for a definite yes or no is bound to be disappointed.

First, consider cell phones: One report says they appear to be safe, which actually means the evidence is not conclusive. No surprise there. The usual language used in such a report is that “there is no clear evidence of harm.” Or something like that.

And then, if you read enough of the report (i.e. beyond the headlines), you will find this type of comment:

“Mobile phones have only been in widespread use for a relatively short time. The possibility remains that there could be health effects.”

And…

“Continued research is needed.”

So what do you do?  Find comfort in the conclusion that, “the balance of evidence suggests that mobile phone technologies do not cause adverse effects.”

Perhaps the mantra for now should be: “use with caution, and with moderation.”

In the end, it all boils down to a personal gut-level decision, unless you wish to pretend that there is a solid body of science.

The following stories reveal the extent of uncertainty:

MOBILES ARE SAFE BUT…

And what about children?

CHILDREN MUST CURB MOBILE USE
