WHO,
UNICEF and CDC regret the Government of Ukraine’s decision to suspend
the National Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign - Media
statement - WHO/Europe - "The Government’s decision to suspend the
vaccination campaign was in response to the recent tragic death of a
17-year-old boy in Kramatorsk. Although a special commission of the
Ministry of Health is still investigating the case, the Minister of
Health stated that preliminary results provide no evidence of
vaccination causing this unfortunate death. WHO, UNICEF and CDC regret
that the decision to suspend the campaign and withdraw vaccines from
use was made prior to the receipt of the official results of the
investigation. WHO, UNICEF and CDC reiterate that the measles and
rubella vaccine used in Ukraine is pre-qualified by WHO and produced in
accordance with the highest international standards by the Serum

moving to limit gifts from drug firms - Baltimore Sun - "When Dr.

interest. The talks are often sponsored by pharmaceutical and medical
device companies, which supply the food, too. Meisenberg, a hematology
professor at the medical school, decided a decade ago that taking gifts

wanted to be free of any concerns about my reputation,' he said. 'The
data show that we are being influenced, even by small gifts.'"

Court on Tuesday to rule that vaccine maker American Home Products
Corp. can be held liable for damages in a civil case....The case has
drawn the ire of the vaccine industry as well as powerful right-leaning
lobbying groups from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to the conservative
Pacific Legal Foundation. Seven other state courts have ruled that the
federal laws pre-empt any state law that might give families the power
to challenge the vaccine manufacturers. But the Georgia Court of

federal law doesn't take precedence over state tort law."

pen, Governor Charlie Crist changed that Tuesday. Under new law called
the 'Window of Opportunity Act,' families will get up to $36,000 each
year and up to $200,000 during a lifetime for diagnosis and therapy.
They will also receive protection from denied claims due to
'developmental disabilities.'...Former Miami Dolphins Quarterback Dan
Marino has a son, Michael, who was diagnosed with autism as a child.
He’s now a 20-year-old college student. Marino said this will allow
families to provide the same care to their loved ones who might not
otherwise be able to afford it."

Health - Technology Achievement or Privacy Disaster? -
NaturalNews.com - "How would you like to find yourself going to a job
interview one day, then suddenly finding out you're denied the job
because your potential future employer bought your health records from
this third party company that purchased them from Google? Although this
is certainly not the intention of present-day Google, it remains a
disconcerting possibility that's actually written right into Google's
own privacy policy. Regardless of whether Google ever intends to sell
your health records to someone else, the language of their privacy
policy enables them to sell off the Google Health unit -- and all its
records -- to any other business, government or individual at any time,
with no recourse on your part. You have no right to delete your records
under such a scenario. They become the 'property' of the new buyer."

EVISTA did not increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or dying from
other causes. If that statement is supposed to ad clarity to the new
warning I suggest that Lilly test it because when I showed it to post
menopausal women within my family they had no idea what it meant and
they are college graduates. There comes a time in DTC when drug
companies need to go beyond promotional messages and clearly describe,
in real words that people can understand, what this means for the
target audience. Enough with the label language, drug companies need to
go beyond the label but then that would mean being transparent and God
knows the drug companies are nowhere even close to this trend in
consumer marketing."

Mobile Phone Use While Pregnant May 'Seriously Damage Baby,' Study Says
- Pregnant women who regularly use mobile phones are more likely to
have children with behavioral problems, according to a study by a UCLA

adverse health effect." - FOX News - "The study follows a finding by
the official Russian radiation watchdog that the danger posed by mobile
phones is 'not much lower than the risk to children's health from
tobacco or alcohol.' The UK's Health Protection Agency said the study's
findings were unexpected and highlighted the need for caution over
mobile phones. But it stopped short of telling pregnant women not to
use them. 'Its findings need to be investigated thoroughly. There may
be another cause for the effect observed,' a spokesman said. 'There is
still no data available yet that has measured the radiation exposure to

Vaccines Produce Autism Symptoms in New Primate Study by University of
Pittsburgh Scientists - SafeMinds via Sun Herald - "The abstracts
presented at IMFAR, the world's top autism science conference, describe
biological changes and altered behavior in vaccinated macaques that are
similar to those observed in children with autism. Unvaccinated animals
showed no such adverse outcomes. The vaccines given were those
recommended for U.S. infants in the 1990s, including several with the
mercury preservative thimerosal and the Measles-Mumps-Rubella vaccine.
Rates of autism spectrum disorder among children born in the 1990s
surged dramatically, from about 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 150 children. 'This
research underscores the critical need for more investigation into
immunizations, mercury, and the alterations seen in autistic children,"
stated Lyn Redwood, director of SafeMinds. 'SafeMinds calls for large
scale, unbiased studies that look at medical conditions associated with
autism and the effects of vaccines given as a regimen.'"

“unfortunately, not uncommon in this study population.” But not
unpredictable, The St. Paul Pioneer-Press writes. His mother later filed
a lawsuit, accusing Markingson’s psychiatrist and the study’s director,
Stephen Olson, of coercing him to sign up. The lawsuit also claimed the
university kept Markingson enrolled to preserve its research and to

Evidence Of Native Dendritic Cells In Brain Surprises Scientists -
In a finding that has the potential to change the way researchers think
about the brain, scientists at Rockefeller University have found
dendritic cells where they’ve never been seen before: among this
organ’s neurons and connective cells. The immunity-directing dendritic
cell had previously been seen in the human nervous system only after
brain injury or disease. But the new study shows for the first time
that the brain has its own, resident population of dendritic cells that
may serve as a line of defense against pathogens that sneak past the
blood-brain barrier. - The Journal

Hannah Poling matter: A tale of science, belief and ‘plausibility’
(requires registration) -
www.infectiousdiseasenews.com - Medicolegal experts have indicated
that the wording of the ruling is quite narrow and the circumstances
quite unique; thus, the Poling case is not likely to be a precedent for
the many other pending claims. Nonetheless, it is the first crack in
the otherwise ironclad government claim that vaccines do not cause
autism. Each case in the future will need to be decided on its own
merits. Note also that the ruling did not address what vaccine or what
additive, ie, thimerosal, was the villain in this case; it shed no
further light on that ongoing controversy. Nonetheless, it is widely
believed among the vaccine skeptics that thimerosal is indeed the cause
of autism. An enormous amount of ink has been spilled concerning this
issue in the public media in the two months since this ruling was
released. It is clear that virtually all the vaccine skeptics in the
country believe they have won a victory and that the government has
either been lying to them or else really does not know the full extent
of possible damages that vaccines (or thimerosal) may cause."

the CDC and the American College Health Association now recommend that
colleges require students to receive the two-dose measles-mumps-rubella

jab in three months under 'emergency' measures to tackle the biggest
outbreak of measles for decades. The unprecedented step follows a
growing epidemic of the potentially fatal disease caused after too few
children were given MMR injections....'Children's immune systems have a

vaccination, Ukraine's emergencies ministry said. On May 13, a

Two days later, over 60 people in eastern Ukraine were hospitalized
after vaccination. A total of over 20,000 people in the region received
the same vaccine. Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko said he was
concerned over the teenager's death and demanded from the Ukrainian
health ministry to take all measures to prevent such instances in the
future. By now, measles immunization has been halted in Ukraine."

Shattock, of the University of Sunderland Autism Research Unit, said:
“Mrs Healy was a major player in US Government healthcare. It is the
first time such an eminent medic has come out with such damning
comments. 'She states healthcare officials were told not to look for
subsets in case they found a causal link between vaccines and autism.
This is outrageous. 'It’s time the British Government looked at this
