Newsweek continues to tiptoe around the elephant in the living room by attempting to address autism without mentioning the gross overexposure to mercury these “autistic” children received from vaccines.  Growing scientific evidence supports a causal link between the mercury-based vaccine preservative Thimerosal and the huge increase among children of such diagnoses as autism and ADHD.  The use of Thimerosal tripled in the early 1990’s for infants in the first six months of life as several more mercury laden vaccines were added to the mandatory schedule and administered earlier in life than ever before. The amount of mercury in these vaccines was not in trace amounts as both the drug companies who produced them and the government agencies that approved them would like us to believe.  In fact, many infants were exposed to as much as 125 times over the amount federal guidelines specify as “safe” for adult mercury exposure.

Throughout history, mercury has been known as a powerful neurotoxin, more toxic than even lead or arsenic, especially to the developing brain. The effects of mercury toxicity, including those upon cognition, behavior, speech, and the G.I. system, have destroyed the lives of countless families who made sure their children received all mandated vaccines.

The portrayal of autistic children as quaintly odd may fit a small percentage of the affected population.  For the vast majority of children with an autism diagnosis who are in chronic physical and emotional pain from mercury poisoning, your characterization is misleading and offensive.  Newsweek is proving to be a fine ally to those who have a vested interest in hiding the fact that something went horribly wrong with this country’s immunization program.  Meanwhile, thousands upon thousands of families continue to suffer from government sanctioning of the pharmaceutical industry’s systematic poisoning of children.
