INTERNATIONAL IMMUNIZATION NEWS
"Myanmar to Launch Immunization Campaign Against Measles" Xinhua News Agency (202.84.17.11/en/main.htm) (09/17/02)
Next week, a measles immunization campaign will be launched in Myanmar in an effort to protect children who missed getting the shots during immunization programs earlier this year. The programs, held in February, vaccinated about 1.5 million children under the age of five against the disease this year, according to the Myanmar Ministry of Health. Cases of measles in the country are increasing in areas where vaccination rates are low. The newest program represents the ministry's focus on vaccinating the entire country over the next three years.
