 Join Hermie's Race for Autism

Nascar driver, Hermie Sadler, is making a difference in the lives of over a million of people with autism, including his own daughter, Halie Dru, by raising autism awareness. On March 24th  Hermie competed in the Winston Cup Series in Bristol, Tennessee. His car featured the autism awareness ribbon and the ASA's toll-free number, 800.3.AUTISM.

  Why is this so important?

More than 50 years have passed since autism was first identified. During that half a century, smallpox was wiped out, a vaccine was created to fight polio and the gene for cystic fibrosis was discovered. Yet, we are still far from fully understanding and knowing how to prevent this complex and widely misunderstood disorder. Worse yet, the incidence of autism is on the rise:

The incidence of autism increases at the astonishing rate of 10-17% annually.

Given the increased incidence rate, within the next decade autism will become the most prevalent disability in the United States.
