Residents in the central Queensland farming community of Biloela are
now being vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis.
Queensland Health officers expect to vaccinate 2,000 adult residents over the
next four days after an outbreak was declared yesterday.
Already, about 100 people are lining up at the Biloela Civic Centre to be
immunised.
Queensland Health says the four confirmed cases of the disease were all in
adults, so it is not necessary to vaccinate people outside the 18-40 age group.
