In Nigeria, approximately 800,000 children in the Bauchi state were vaccinated against polio. The immunization effort was conducted by the Bauchi state government with the World Health Organization (WHO), which provided the vaccines to 15 local government areas at 30 naira per dose. Polio has re-emerged in Nigeria's Gombe state, which borders Bauchi, with five cases recorded in four of the 21 local areas.
