If you
believe you or a loved one has been injured as a result of a vaccination,
there is pending legislation that may affect your rights. HR 1287 (The
Vaccine Injured Children's Compensation Act) is a bi-partisan bill introduced
by Congressman Dave Weldon (R-FL) and Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). Co-sponsors
include Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN), Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), Rep. Pete Sessions
(R-TX), Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), Rep. Steve Horn (R-CA), Rep. Karen McCarthy
(D-MO), and Rep. Jim Turner (D-TX). This bill is intended to help families
who are seeking Program compensation for children injured by vaccines. The
most important part of the bill extends the time for filing program claims
and adds a "discovery rule" to help parents who are just learning
about the possible connection between vaccines and their child's medical
problems. This aspect of the bill corrects an unintended feature of the
original act which effectively makes it more difficult for children to
recover in the program than under the law of their own state. Please support
HR 1287 by calling or writing your representative in Washington. You may call
202-224-3121 and ask for your member of Congress. If you do not know, the
operator will help you identify your representative.
