Vaccines will be the focus of a major Australian conference starting today
at the Academy of Science in Canberra.
The speakers at the Vaccines and Vaccinations in the 21st Century Conference
will focus on the latest research on treatments for tuberculosis, malaria and
HIV-AIDS.
Conference co-organiser Professor Ian Ramshaw, from the John Curtin School of
Medical Research, says researchers will be sharing some of their latest
breakthroughs.
"This is essentially looking at different aspects of the same problem, in other
words, vaccination against infectious diseases, cancer and other allergic
diseases as well, so there's common technologies and its very important that we
get together and talk along those lines," he said.
