Raymond Gallup on NAAR (the National Alliance for Autism
Research) and the influence of the drug companies
NAAR and relationship to pharmaceutical companies and peer review studies
(non independent research studies) are on web sites below. The reason why more
autism research funding for independent research is not being done in the US
when millions of dollars (by the NIH and major autism research organizations
like the MIND Institute, Cure Autism Now and the National Alliance for Autism
Research) go to peer review studies that concentrate on genetic studies, brain
tissue studies and drug studies on Prozac and Ritalin. Peer Review studies make
sure the good old boy network of science is funded at the expense of independent
researchers, since the good old boy network marches in lock step with the
pharmaceutical companies. Independent researchers who are concerned about the
children with autism and their families are locked out since they are considered
a danger to the pharmaceutical companies and represent good science (plus they
raise safety concerns about vaccines and that is something the pharmaceutical
companies are dead set against). Good science and safety is not a concern of the
pharmaceutical companies. Profits for their businesses are a concern and driving
force.

"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education."
