"Meningitis Kills 20 in Southern Angola"
PANA Wire Service (allafrica.com) (10/22/02)
An outbreak of meningitis in the Sendi village in the Chipungo District of southern Angola has killed at least 20 people so far, and a team of physicians from the National Vaccination Program has relocated to the area to initiate a mass immunization program. Avelino Muanecongo, director of Public Health and Endemic Diseases Control, said they will greatly depend on receiving vaccines and supplies from UNICEF as the local health clinic lacks adequate resources.
