"Ethiopia to Launch Its Biggest Ever Polio Vaccination Campaign" Agence France Presse (www.afp.com/english/home) (10/23/02)

Beginning on Oct. 25, Ethiopia will target more than 14 million children with its largest polio vaccination campaign in history. The campaign will consist of both fixed immunization posts and house-to-house coverage, according to Ethiopian health official Tesfanesh Belay.  Vaccines will be delivered across the country with helicopters, four-wheel drive vehicles, horses, donkeys, mules, and camels.  World Health Organization representative Angela Benson says the campaign will involve 37,000 vaccination teams and 74,000 volunteers across the country.
