"Aspects of MMR"
British Medical Journal Online (www.bmj.com) (09/14/02) Vol. 325, No. 7364, P. 597; Schmidt, K.; Ernst, E.
In a rough survey of the opinions of a number of alternative health providers, two physicians found that many such practitioners offer a negative view of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, they inform the British Medical Journal. The research was based on e-mail correspondence and the Web pages of 168 providers of homeopathic remedies and 63 chiropractors, all of whom had the opportunity to withdraw their responses based on the fact that the information was being provided for a research project. Though a number of family physicians were contacted as well, none chose to respond to the survey. The responses revealed that very few herbalists were in favor of the MMR vaccine and just one fourth of the chiropractors recommended it as well. Furthermore, half of the homeopaths advised against the vaccine and about 20 percent of chiropractors gave negative advice.
