KING COUNTY - There's been a spike in whooping cough cases in King County.

The Health Department says it's normal to see a rise in cases every three to five years.

Last year, King County had 39 confirmed cases of whooping cough. This year, it's had 122 cases.

The latest was discovered in a health care worker at Northshore Public Health Center in Bothell.

The health department is calling everybody who might have had contact with this person.

The symptoms of whooping cough are similar to a cold. But if left untreated, people develop the telltale 'whooping cough' sound.
