U.S. IMMUNIZATION NEWS
"Should Vaccines Be Required?"
Natural Health (www.naturalhealthmag.com) (11/02) Vol. 32, No. 8, P. 22
Although some parents have expressed concern about the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine or the effects of multiple immunizations, research from the National Academy of Sciences Immunization Safety Review Committee indicates that there is no connection between the MMR shot and autism or between multiple vaccinations and reduced immunity. Only 15 states currently allow worried parents the right to not have their children immunized [in order to attend school]; however, that decision could affect the general public as well as the children, caution health officials. Experts stress that immunizations are important to help prevent serious infections in both children and the general public.
