"Russian Scientists Developed AIDS Vaccine, Clinical Tests Begin--Paper" BBC Worldwide Monitoring (www.monitor.bbc.co.uk) (11/06/02)
According to a report in Izvestiya newspaper this week, Russian scientists have developed an AIDS vaccine. Rakhim Khaitov, head of the Immunology Institute and a member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, said that the AIDS vaccine has gone through pre-clinical testing, and researchers are now beginning clinical studies of the vaccine.
