"Parents Jump Gun on Vaccine"
Herald Sun (AU) (www.heraldsun.news.com.au) (11/26/02) P. 25; Kelly, Jen
The Australian government plans to start dispensing free meningococcal C vaccine to children in April of next year. Some parents are too concerned to wait and are currently paying between A$70 and $85 for inoculations. The recent death of an adolescent from the disease recently prompted a slew of vaccinations, notes Valda Comber of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. The Australian Medical Association's Dr. Mukesh Haikerwal indicates that parents can wait until April, saying that meningococcal disease is rare.
