In an editorial published in the Africa News, the author says that unprotected sex and blood contamination will continue to propagate the HIV virus in Africa. While he supports prevention efforts, he indicates the desperate need for a vaccine or cure. A coordinated global strategy is mandatory, according to the author. He feels that researchers should get substantial resources from governments and corporate groups, diverting some funds from other areas like defense spending or returns to shareholders.
