"Bush Leans to Limited Smallpox Vaccination"
Washington Post (www.washingtonpost.com) (11/23/02) P. A1; Milbank, Dana
President George W. Bush is likely to adhere to the advice of government health and military officials by making smallpox vaccine available to around 500,000 soldiers and 500,000 health and hospital workers. At a later time, as many as 10 million emergency workers would be inoculated. The administration would look at the side effects of the first round of vaccinations to decide whether to allow broader access in the future. Other people who activity seek protection against smallpox may also be allowed to obtain the vaccine.
