"Advantages of Immunization"
Business World (Philippines) (bworld.com.ph/current/today.html )
(11/22/02) P. 36
The number of cases of viral and bacterial diseases in the Philippines has doubled from 2001 to 2002, according to the Department of Health. Many parents are not taking advantage of opportunities to vaccinate their children, despite the fact that many vaccine-preventable diseases are dangerous and sometimes deadly. Lack of knowledge has been cited as a key reason for the situation, especially as the proliferation of vaccines has reduced the number of illnesses in recent years. From birth to the age of six years, doctors suggests children be vaccinated during regular healthcare consultations.
