PARENTS LOSE TRUST IN TRIPLE MMR JAB

MORE Scots parents are refusing to have their children vaccinated with the triple MMR jag.

The latest figures show that the number of children receiving the triple injection is plummeting.

At the end of September, 13 per cent of two-year-olds had not been immunised, putting them and others at risk of catching measles, mumps and rubella.

The fall follows fears the injection cocktail could cause autism.

Campaigners say the jag is too much for a baby's immune system to cope with.

But Scotland's chief medical officer Dr Mac Armstrong warned that children could be at risk if parents continue to refuse the jag.

He said: "Expert advice from around the world clearly shows that MMR remains the safest and most effective way to protect children from these diseases.

"Single vaccines with the suggested time lags could result in death or serious illness."

Others, however, are not convinced.

Olivia Cooper had no hesitation in letting a doctor give her baby son the triple MMR jag four years ago.

But now her son Daniel is autistic - and Olivia claims his condition was caused by the injection cocktail.

Now Olivia, 36, of Glengarnock, Ayrshire, has vowed that her new baby, which is due next March, will not have any immunisations.
