"Vancouver Food-Service Workers Offered Chance to Get Hepatitis A Shots for $40" Vancouver Sun (www.canada.com/vancouver/vancouversun) (05/17/02) P. B6; Gregg, Erin
The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and the Canadian and British Columbia Restaurant and Foodservices Associations will offer Vancouver's food-service workers the opportunity to receive immunizations against hepatitis A for a cost of $40, which will hopefully renew interest in the usually expensive vaccine. Simon Evans of the BCRFA believes the program is cost-effective for food-service workers as well as effective in preventing future outbreaks of hepatitis A. The city recently diagnosed a Capers Community Market employee with hepatitis A, which led to a warning to customers of the market about the diagnosis that explained the benefit of the hepatitis A vaccine. Capers now requires all of its employees to receive the hepatitis A immunization to ensure that its customers are safe.
