The first round of the National Immunization Day
(NID) will be held in Bangladesh
on January 19, 2003, with the second round starting March 1. As a supplement to
next year's NID, 42 districts in the country will have access to NIDs on August
10, 2002 and September
14, 2002, according to decisions made in a recent meeting of the Health and
Family Welfare Ministry steering committee. Polio cases from different areas of
Bangladesh threaten the country's eradication of the disease, according to
Health and Family Welfare Minster and steering committee president Khandaker
Mosharraf Hossain.
