Dear FEATNEWS Readers,
It is with mixed emotions that we announce that
Lenny Schafer will be leaving his role as the FEATNEWS
Editor to pursue other important work in the autism
advocacy community. We Are very happy for him
personally and at the same time, a bit sad to see such
a good friend and co-worker moving on. Lenny, like
all FEAT staff members, served strictly as a
volunteer. However, as a single father of two
children, Lenny appropriately feels he must now secure
a position that will allow him to devote all of his
energy to provide for his family's financial future.
Lenny has dedicated five years to his role as the
FEATNEWS Editor, during which time the breadth, depth
and impact of the FEATNEWS has increased tremendously.
We will miss Lenny's contributions, as well as his
wonderful sense of humor. Please join us in wishing
Lenny continued success in all of his endeavors.
The FEAT Board of Directors applauds his enthusiasm
and wish to support any initiative that benefits the
autism community. In Lenny's new position, which will
be outside of the FEAT organization, he will likely be
contacting you with additional information regarding
his new autism advocacy initiatives. As individual
readers, you will decide how to respond to these
inquiries. FEAT continues to maintain a strict
privacy policy, which does not allow for the release
of personal information for any reason and as such,
cannot condone unauthorized use of this information.
Finally, we are very excited about the future of
the FEATNEWS. During this FEATNEWS transition, we
will scale back the content but hang in there while we
are "under construction". We invite you to consider
joining the current FEATNEWS family. We are looking
for several more volunteers to share responsibilities
for regional and national information on various
topics such as behavioral research and intervention
methods, medical research and intervention, personal
stories of success, book reviews, a current events
calendar, legal advocacy and other areas that interest
our readers. So, if you have a passion for sharing
autism-related news and want to get involved, then
please contact us at featnews@feat.org. In the words
of Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed people can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Sincerely,
Nancy Fellmeth
