"Dutch Firm to develop Ebola Vaccine with United
States" Reuters (www.reuters.com)
(05/16/02); Cheary, Melanie
The United States National Institutes of Health
(NIH) and a Dutch biotechnology firm, CrucellNV, have partnered on a mission to
develop a vaccine against the deadly virus Ebola. Since September, the fear
that Ebola could be used as a powerful biological weapon has intensified and
recent outbreaks of fever in Africa have already resulted in hundreds of
deaths. Crucell NV and the NIH anticipate a vaccine will be ready for human
trials within two years and in distribution by 2008.
