I read with interest that Dr. Rubery
cites parents should have the option of choosing single doses of the MMR
vaccine. She states that fear of autism has forced many parents to forego
vaccination entirely, but if single doses were allowed, more parents would
vaccinate.
What she fails to notice is that more parents indeed would vaccinate with
single doses - but not because of the MMR-autism link. Unlike the MMR
vaccine, the single doses of measles and mumps are not derived from aborted
fetal tissue either - a fact that has nearly half a million Americans
protesting their use.
The single dose measles and mumps are derived from chick embryo. The
rubella vaccine importable from Japan uses rabbit cell lines. Want more
people to vaccinate? Give them the moral choices and they will.
