From an alert reader:

I just came across the world health org. website and urge you all to check it out if you have never seen it--it gives a good idea of what is happening worldwide.

On the site, I came across the "Information Bank” and received info on thimerosal and "adverse events following meningococcal vaccine."

Also, on their "vaccines, immunization and biologicals" is a link to other sites.

And, found "Immunization Safety Priority Project"--whereby WHO Dept. of Vaccines and Biologicals will "establish a strong leadership and provide technical support to countries and partners in immunization safety...The ultimate goal is to enable national immunization programmes to prevent, early detect and quickly respond to adverse events in order to minimize their negative impact on health and on national immunization programmes." Also on this page is a little-known facts--"Up to one third of immunization
injections ae not carried out in a way that guarantees sterility...In 1998, only 78% of countries producing vaccine and 36% of countries procuring vaccine had a monitoring system for vaccine-associated adverse events...” www.who.int/vaccines/aboutus/newweb/immunizationsafety.htm

Also somewhere on the WHO site I found out about a conference on May 25 at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Ga. on "The challenge of faith and health." It is a one-day conf. put on by the Interfaith Health Program based at Emory University--I believe it also shows a picture of Jimmy Carter.
