"Polio Vaccination a Success"
Business World (Philippines) (bworld.com.ph/current/today.html)
(03/19/02)
In the Philippines, the second round of a mass
polio vaccination campaign reached over 12 million children between the ages of
one and five during the first week of March, officials said Monday. After a
door-to-door immunization strategy was adopted, the second round recorded a
101.7 percent accomplishment rate, compared to 98.7 percent in February. The
vaccination campaign was initiated after three cases of polio were identified in
2001, just one year after the country was declared polio-free.
