Weekly Controversy

MYCOPLASMA

March 18, 2002- In last week’s edition of redflagsweekly.com, Howard Urnovitz (Ph.d) strongly questioned the science on mycoplasmas (a class of bacteria) and their role in such illnesses as Gulf War Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Urnovitz heads the Chronic Illness Research Foundation and is presently in Germany, researching mad cow disease.

Garth Nicolson wrote to redflagsweekly.com asking for the opportunity to present a rebuttal to Urnovitz’s views on mycoplasma. We gladly accepted this offer and sent his rebuttal to Urnovitz for his reply. Should Nicolson wish to present another rebuttal, it is our policy to allow an exchange of views to continue for at least a few rounds, if new material of a scientific nature is offered.
