"Japan Donates Measles Vaccines to Vietnam"

BBC News (www.bbc.co.uk) (03/04/02)

Twenty million children in Vietnam between the ages of nine months and 10 years will receive the second dose of the measles vaccine due to $4.3 million in financing from the Japanese government.  The measles vaccination campaign in Vietnam will continue to receive aid from Japan to buy the vaccine and injection supplies, says Japanese Ambassador Ryuichiro Yamazaki. Vietnam's Minister of Public Health, Do Nguyen Phuong, is now calling for donations from other countries to help Vietnam to buy more vaccines and cold storage equipment.  The first phase of the measles vaccination campaign is expected to cost $8.6 million alone.
