"International Red Cross Joins Push to Rid World of Polio" Associated Press (www.ap.org) (03/01/02)

The International Red Cross will vaccinate 6 million children in parts of Africa and Pakistan against polio.  The move comes as part of the final phase of the organization's plan to rid the world of the disease, but the Red Cross said it needs $679,000 to complete that objective.  Volunteers will push into war-torn areas, including the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Pakistan, in order to vaccinate all children against polio.
