"Hispaniola: Countries Launching Immunization Program"

Following an outbreak of polio in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, health officials in the two nations plan to vaccinate 3 million children under the age of 10 against the disease.  From July 2000 to July 2001, 13 children in the Dominican Republic and eight in Haiti contracted polio from a  vaccine virus that had mutated, according to a recent report in Science.
