"World Bank Approves $100 Million Loan to Philippines"
Dow Jones Newswire Online (www.djnewswires.com) (06/04/02); Rebello, Joseph
The World Bank agreed this week to lend the Philippines $100 million to help improve basic education, health care, and other social services in the country. The funds will be used to run a 3.5-year program that aims to narrow the gap in the quality of social services available to the richest and poorest citizens in the Philippines. Among other things, the loan will help the government buy drugs, vaccines, and supplies to fight tuberculosis and rabies.
