"Research Backs Claims of MMR Safety"
Financial Times (www.ft.com) (06/12/02) P. 4; Firn, David; Tait, Nikki
A report being published today in Clinical Evidence, a scientific journal of the British Medical Association, says there is no evidence that the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine or single measles vaccines are linked to autism or bowel disease. Researchers studied data from over 2,000 clinical studies and found that the combination vaccine and the single measles vaccine almost completely eliminated the risk of measles and measles complications. "We can now be reassured [that] the questions have been answered and parents can be happy to give their children the vaccine," said Dr. Anna Donald, one of the authors of the largest independent safety study. Donald also stated that "there is no justification for the single [measles] jab," as it leaves children at risk for mumps and rubella.
