"Gates Foundation Grants $6.4 Million for Rotavirus Project" Hindu Business Line (www.blonnet.com) (06/23/02)
The Rotavirus Development Project-India has received $6.4 million in funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The initiative involves All India Institute of Medical Sciences surveillance of the virus and conducting of vaccine clinical trials, with the firm Bharat Biotech providing the vaccine development and manufacturing. Rotavirus kills approximately 20,000 children and babies in India every year.
