"End of Tetanus Shot
Shortage Seen, But Other Vaccines Remain in Short Supply" Associated Press (www.ap.org)
(06/06/02)
The tetanus vaccine
shortage will soon end in Maine.
Shortages in the state still exists for varicella and pneumococcal conjugate
vaccine. Bureau of Health acting Director Dr. Lani Graham feels that no
short-term health consequences will result from the shortages, but notes that
compelling patients to return at a later time when the vaccines are available
can be troublesome. Maine's initiative of dispensing vaccines to doctors for
free has contributed to the state having the nation's highest vaccination rate.
