INTERNATIONAL IMMUNIZATION NEWS
"Carlsbad, Calif., Biotechnology Firm Expects Thailand to Approve Vaccine" San Diego Union-Tribune (www.uniontrib.com) (06/18/02); Crabtree, Penni
The Remune HIV vaccine is likely to be authorized for marketing by Thai regulators, according to Immune Response. The approval would be a boon to a company that has seen its cash resources and share price drop heavily since Pfizer pulled out of an alliance. Clinical studies in the United States have shown no clear benefit for the vaccine, and many scientists feel that Remune will not work as a standalone treatment. The lead scientist in the vaccine's Thai trials is a major shareholder in the Trinity Medical Group, which has licensed Remune from Immune Response.
