"Brighton Leads Nation on Meningococcal Vaccines"

Hobart Mercury (www.themercury.com.au) (06/20/02); Rose, Danny

The Brighton Council is the first municipality in Australia to subsidize the meningococcal vaccine.  Residents of the area will be able to get the inoculation for $50 instead of the approximately $100 that it previously cost.  The program was initiated after the council unsuccessfully lobbied the federal government to cover the vaccine.  Meningococcal vaccine is likely to be subsidized by the Hobart City Council soon.
