“Vaccine Pricing”
Los Angeles Times (www.latimes.com) (04/12/01) P. B10
In response to a recent editorial in the Los Angeles
Times, Aventis Pasteur head David J. Williams denies that the price increase
for tetanus vaccines was the result of Wyeth Lederle abandoning the
market. He notes that the new price was
enacted before Wyeth Lederle even had its supply problems. The growing expense of running a modern and
compliant vaccine plant was the actual reason to charge more for the tetanus
vaccine, according to Williams.
