"Student Vaccine Shortages"

New York Times (www.nytimes.com) (07/30/02) P. A15

Student immunization requirements are being relaxed in at least

four states--New Jersey, Indiana, Minnesota, and Nebraska--this

fall as a result of lingering shortages of some childhood

vaccines.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

recently alerted doctors that supply shortages had ended for the

measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, as well as for the

diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine.  However, some regions

of the country are still in short supply of the vaccines, and

children with incomplete immunizations in the four states will be

allowed to enroll in classes.
