"Palestinian Health Ministry Official Warns of Epidemic Outbreak in West Bank" BBC Worldwide Monitoring (www.monitor.bbc.co.uk) (07/18/02)
Palestinian Health Ministry undersecretary Mundhir al-Sharif has asserted that epidemics of some diseases--such as cholera, malaria, and polio--could return to the West Bank if occupation measures continue to prevent medical teams from delivering vaccinations and other healthcare necessities to the area. He also noted the vulnerability of newborns who lack vaccinations for hepatitis and measles. Al-Sharif has asked the World Health Organization (WHO) to increase pressure on the Israeli government to allow normal healthcare in the West Bank. ALL INFORMATION, DATA, AND
