"Kenya: Health Minister Says Anti-Measles Campaign a 'Huge

Success'"

BBC Worldwide Monitoring (www.monitor.bbc.co.uk ) (07/31/02)

Kenya's Public Health Minister, Prof. Sam Ongeri, announced that

the recent $15 million measles immunization effort reached 97.9

percent of the target group.  Ongeri said the week-long campaign

vaccinated 13.3 million children between the ages of nine months

and 14 years against measles, out of a total target group of

about 13.6 million children.  Mop-up campaigns will be held over

the next few months in the few districts that did not achieve 95

percent measles vaccination coverage.
