JERUSALEM, July 22 (Reuters) - Israel's Mindset
BioPharmaceuticals and the New York University School of Medicine on Monday
said they have signed an agreement in which Mindset will become the
worldwide exclusive licensee of a new vaccine technology for the treatment
of Alzheimer's disease.
Privately held Mindset, in collaboration with NYU, is developing a
vaccine called Amyrex and holds several pending patent applications in the
treatment of Alzheimer's, it said in a statement.
The company is backed financially by investment firms MRM Capital and
Clal Biotechnology Industries, a unit of Clal Industries and Investments (CII).
Alzheimer's disease affects about 8 million Europeans and Americans and
the number is expected to rise dramatically with an increasing elderly
population.
Until now, no cure or disease-modifying therapy has been developed for
the disease.
