"Fear of Disease in South Asia, Flood Waters Recede"

Flood waters are receding in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal causing

an increased risk of encephalitis, cholera, and other diseases.

Encephalitis has already taken the lives of 70 people in the

eastern Indian state of Assam over the past two weeks, according

to health services director D.K. Das, and a cholera outbreak is

suspected in Nepal, where five people have already succumbed to

the disease.
