Cancer experts to study vaccine
(Filed: 18/07/2002)

Cancer experts from around the world are gathering for a conference aimed at studying the efficacy of vaccines in preventing cancers.

Delegates from Sweden, Russia, Germany and the US are joining British experts in Nottingham to discuss how vaccines may one day be used in the forefront of the battle against the disease.

Professor Bob Rees, who has helped develop a vaccine against some forms of leukaemia at Nottingham Trent University, said: "The event will allow us to share experiences and expertise.

"In future will hopefully lead to the production of vaccines which can be used in cancer therapy."

The conference will look at ways of developing vaccines against prostate, breast and bowel cancer.
